Extremadura is more than a Spanish region; it is a universe. Salamanca is a beautiful and welcoming city, very clean and especially safe above all. It is a city with an important variety of cultural events and a great offert to enjoy leisure and nature. Moreover, Salamanca has especialized academies and schools in teaching Spanish with a great tradition and well known. This is the ideal place to learn Spanish because it is the pure Castillian. Hence, this region is known as the cradle of Castillian. The city of Salamanca has 160,415 inhabitants, which represents 45% of the population of the entire province. The University of Córdoba, through the UcoIdiomas language center, offers foreign students the opportunity to live and study in one of the oldest and historically most important cities of Spain. This Andalusian city was the center of Jewish and Muslim culture, and nowadays is admired for its architectural monuments, mainly the Great Mosque-Cathedral, considered to be the most important Islamic monument built in the West.
